One of the biggest and the most dynamic sectors in the world is definitely the automobile sector. There are several car manufacturers in the world that manufacture world class cars and many countries import these cars in to their local market. However importing a car and especially a used car is a difficult process and thus you will need to use an import agent to import used cars in to your country.The main problem that many import agents face in their countries is the diversity of import & export laws and regulations in different locations. Also the import of a car requires not only the car itself and but its delivery into the country. Getting the end result not only involves the price of the car, but the calculation of various expenses. As a general overview, the importation of used cars have the following steps and expenses. 1) The original price of the car from the exporter. 2) The price of the car including the delivery. If the price involves full delivery in to the country that it is being imported to, then the price is stated in the terms of C I F (Cost + Freight + Insurance). 3) If you are using a separate delivery agent, then the price will be stated in the terms of FOB (Freight on Board) 4) Once the used imported car is delivered to the port of your choice, then you will need to make sure that all of its documentation such as the Bill of Lading is properly prepared so that you can have the car exit the customs area properly. 5) In some countries, the amount of the customs tax that you may have to pass will require an extra amount depending on the origin of the car. For example, you may end up paying more customs tax for used European cars and pay less to the used and imported Japanese cars. Thus it is your import agent, who can know the best combination. 6) Your import agent will also take care of all other necessary documentation such as the registration of the car, the issuing of the license plate and the insurance etc. The importation of a used car can be a difficult event, but in the end if you use a knowledgeable and experienced import agent, you can enjoy your car for a long time. |
